Is this normal? EGR

Taken the engine cover off my B6 1.9TDI 130 as I'm getting an overboost fault, so thought I'd check all hoses etc and see if everything looks ok. Noticed there is a lot of oil or grease around the EGR, does this appear to be normal? Here's a few pictures:-

Its soot blowing out of the holes on the egr as i understand it. No it shouldnt be their but from what im told it crops up on most and is nothing to worry about if thats the only symptom. its on mine too.
