Is this a good price

I have been shopping around for a service for my car plus cambelt. The cheapest I have found so far has been £500.

That included cambelt, tensioners, water pump (metal), haldex oil, new plugs, oil + filter, pollon filter and the usual point check.

This was from a VAG specialist in Cardiff and wanted to know what you think on the price for the work.

But then again I'm comparing with london rip-off prices.

My old Clio was that price, and the engine model I had was a piece of p155 to do. So suggest that is a good price.

One quick thing, ring around, because when I was looking to buy my car, I looked at a few that hadn't had the cambelt done. When I enquired around the UK Audi dealerships, the price difference was 300 between the cheapest and the dearest!!!

£100 of that is probably labour. Then there's oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter, plugs, fluids etc. Easily adds up with VAT aswell.

Uprated water pump and cambelt kit is £176 from EUrocarparts alone, sounds like an ok price

Thanks for your replys. I have booked it in already for Thursday.

Ye all the parts are Genuine parts and yes they do use the platinum plugs. Shame you have to pay £500 just for a stamp because I could do it all myself and know it has been done.

Oh well il have to bite the bullet and get this out the way as the money was for my exhaust system lol.
