Part numbers are the same but the letters are different at the end. What does this signify?

    Numbers are:
    4B0927156CH
    4B0927156L

    The car in question is a C5 A6 4.2Q

    Cheers in advance!

Coding refers to software load for each box type/engine setup.

Think yours should be 5 speed Auto?

Yeah it's a 5 Speed Tip. The part currently fitted is the one ending CH. I've now seen various others, but all with different letters on the end. I'm trying to figure out if only the CH TCM will work or if there's another option.

Is there any way of knowing if any others work, or am I stuck looking for one with the CH on the end? Year is 2000 btw.
