Just thinking that as my gearknob's a little worn, I could replace it with the new one from the new (8P) S3, no major difference that I can see but the new one comes with a small S3 logo badge in it (similar to the badge in the 8L S3's steering wheel) so I thought it might look good.

But.. will it be a straight swap? - Has anyone tried this?

Its a perfect fit, only you have to staple the gaiter to the oringinal base

    Thanks,

my current one is still ok for the moment, it's just the leather is quite scratched - I guess my S3's last owner must have either been Mr T or pat evans from eastenders (shudder)

I have a gear knob exactly the same as the one next to the Audi-sport.net banner at the top of the page. Its been in the door pocket since the day I got the car approximately two years ago. Does anyone know what its off? I think it's either TT one, or a R32 one.

Its definately off of a tt, they come in 5 or 6 sped and are a buger to fit. you have to remove you old on, cut the part of it off and araldite the new knob to the old stem piece. then use a tie wrap to secure the gator. then you have to remove about an inch of your actual gear stick. then araldite the whole thing onto the top. it looks realy good when finished. if youve done it properley.
