Hi,

I have just bought an Audi S4 B5 1999.5 and have borrowed my mates vag com lead it says "KEY-USB" on it. I have downloaded 4.09 of the vag com as the new ver 8.something version didnt work either.

when i initially configure the cable and test it i get this error

http://rapidshare.com/files/119844655/err2.JPG.html
just incase rapid share doesnt work
says
interface found!
Type: Ros-Tech Key USB
Version 3.01
Status:Questionable
K1: short to ground
K2:OK

when testing obd function get this

http://rapidshare.com/files/119844194/err1.JPG.html
just incase rapid share doesnt work
says
VAG-COM OBD-II compatability test
test status - test complete
result- Car is not ISO/OBDII compatable if this is a VAG car try Selecte>individual controllers

tried this and got nothing
any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Rob

sounds like a chinese copy mate, does it say ross-tech on it? if not its a copy and might be weird on later audi's because of buggy firmware in the cable.

yeah, says its an offical product on it. i will look to see if there is a firmware upgrade for it...

Since it's a real KEY-USB you should use version 805, however - your problem is the car and most likely not the interface. Have you tested the interface on another car? Are any malfunction lamps lit in the car (eventually the ABS lamp)?

i havent tested it on another cat yet but will do tomorrow. I have the Airbag light on. i need to tfix the connector and clear the light. i assume so long as this light is on i have no air bags?

Aftermarket Stereo ?

If so disconnect that and try again on the car, I'd say something is holding the diag line to earth.

Hi,

nope, standard Audi concert BOSE stereo (with Cassete player !!!:rockwoot:)

Success!

managerd to blow a fuse on my radio whilst trying to remove it.
thought the fuse was in the fuse panel...checked them out and a few were missing ( i know there will be ones missing as i dont have some of those options fitted) after making sure all the relavant fuses were there I realised i had blown the fuse on the back of the actual radio.

replaced it....thought i will give VAG COM one more go and hey presto...no short to ground !!

worked but have a loads of errors...can you help on these

For now and after that radio issue, clear all codes and perform an extended test drive - then read codes again. I would expect some of them not being very important for now, but you can look them up in our WIKI anyway. Some of your codes appear to be low voltage related which is why I suggest doing the above before performing any further actions.

What's making me think is your airbag warning light but no airbag control module showing up, please use the latest version 805 for your new scan and post it again here. Also look at how the airbag warning lamp behaves, does it do ON-OFF-ON or just stuck ON when you switch on the ignition?

Firstly Thanks for a ll your responses so far!

I have done as you advised cleared all codes and went for a run today.
The air bag light comes onthen off with the ignition.

here are the error codes. all gone now apart from some engine ones which i guess realte to the lamda sensor?
