Intermittent Number Plate Lights - Error on Dash

Hi all,

Recently I am having a strange problem. I have used user T8up's numberplate LED's since the 80's no problem, but more recently a strange error has developed and I am confused.

Okay so;

Ignition off > lights on - the numberplate lights work fine

/* However */

Ignition on (car running) > lights on - the numberplate lights are out and error on dash

Has anyone ever come across this problem? I have had a look at the connections and the holders seat fine. Where next to look?

Faulty LED lights themselves? I don't think the car does the lights check until you turn the ignition on so that probably why they work with the ignition off.

It's the only other thing it can be really if you have tested the holders themselves.

It's a bit of an odd one that they just cease working only now. They're the canbus error free ones I'm sure.

Fault with the LED bulbs, just tested with the old set and they work fine.
