My cars just developed an annoying rattle when driving along. Its rattling even when not going over harsh bits in the road. It sounds like its right next to me on the drivers side, so was thinking maybe drivers or rear door?

Are there any common rattles it could be? Its driving me nuts!

An old car I had did my head in for a couple of weeks with a constant rattle, turned out to be a small bit of suspension spring rattling around in the mounting cup.

Drive around with someone else in the car, perhaps in the back seat. If you know any medical type people with a stethoscope, that's a really good way to track things down. Also check the various heat shields under the car, they are known to come loose as the fasteners corrode.

Check the rear spring for a piece broken off and rattling around.

My avant does this too. To fix it it took all of 5 seconds. I just removed both of my hearing aids and the noise has gone! It's amazing. The wife argues that I haven't fixed. But I have, because I can't hear it anymore! Job done.

But seriously it's trim in the boot I think that rattles on mine....

Christine is a different kettle of fish! Hearing aids or not I can ruddy here the thing rattling away!

Ha,mines more directly behind the rear seat. Not really coming from the wheel lining as such.
Near the top of seat belt but sort of behind it

I thought that too, even had the rear door card off to find it.. Until I gave my headrest a shake.. Then I found the problem... Sounded like seatbelt/ rear door

Load cover are known for this and the headrest rattle.
As WAHLSTROM said, slam the headrest down to get rid of that rattle.
Load covers (on Avants) need to be slid onto the seats all the way down and the hook things tend to rattle.

The end flap of the cover (where the handle is to pull it) was caught and was stuck pointing down into the boot. Once I moved it to its correct place, no noise :)

Any joy in sorting this? My rear load cover was giving me grief and kept coming off of the hooks too, but I made some wooden lugs and glued them in place, made them about the same shape as the Audi fix for them, and it's worked.
The remaining rattles now appear to be the windows, they are electric front and rear and potentially the cables in some of the windows are a little slack, or a plastic holder / retainer has cracked in the door.

Anyone with rattle where the bass sits.. When music is playing and I'm outside the car I can hear this bass-rattle.. Checked where it sits and everything seems tight...

Make things worse the nut was still in there,no head!
