    Hi all,

I have searched a bit for this but havent had much luck.

Now I don't think this is a coincidence but the interior light on my S3 doesnt go off as soon as you start the car which I'm sure it used to? Also at I think the same time the electric windows have stopped working completely, no power to either door switches?

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated, I am a little stuck on this one!

    Thanks in advance,

    Jonny/Poke13

That's a strange one! I'd start by checking all the fuses. The lights tend to go off when the doors are shut after a certain amount of time too, which I'm assuming isn't happening either?

It is a weird one. It seems the lights at first just wouldnt go off at all either when you shut the door and wait or start the engine. I have heard that the electric windows dont have a normal fuse more of a thermal trip that gets reset with ignition? I did see someone say there can be a link with all these things.

I've had the lights play up due to faulty door lock switches but never both windows fail at the same time. If al your problems were just on 1 side of the car it would make a bit more sense. Does the DIS think your doors are always open too?

I'd definitely check all the fuses though.

DIS is fine doesnt show doors as open, Im going to have to check fuses (any idea which one/s?).

The CL works fine mirrors I havent tried but power seems to be going to mirror switch (light is on in switch) but window switches arent lit up.

I will have to see about the wires, as far as I know the rubber boot looks okay but i suppose wires may still be faulty. It is just that both doors have gone which makes me think its more at the source that sends power/controls it etc?

As the wiring for both windows has to go over to the drivers side as that's where the control panel is there could be a failure anywhere in between! Check fuses first, should say on the back of the fuse box cover what number. If there's nothing blown you'll have to get the door cards off and check wiring. It could just be a loose connection on one of the plastic connector plugs in the door?

Well I did fix the broken plastic clip on the door window glass last year so yes the connection may have popped out, I think fuses and then door contents may be first places! When you say fuse number how do you know what number is for what? Handbook? I have cover off already ready to investigate when I get chance.

There should be a diagram with numbers on the reverse side of the fuse box cover. It'll tell you what does what and where to find it.

It must be the connection to drivers door electric window switch, although that doesnt explain interior light? Found this fuse box diagram on another thread. Seems there is no fuse for electric windows? Is it part of CL fuse?

Interior lights and Electric windows are controlled by the central locking pump.

So this could all be down to faulty/old Central Locking pump?

Bit of a revive of the thread but after getting the car through it's MOT Im now thinking of sorting this electric window/interior light issue.

If I get a new central locking pump to try will anything need re-coding or will it just be a swap?

Does anyone know the part number for an S3 8L central locking pump?

I got a refurbed pump from an ASN member on here called "Olds_Kool" View Profile: olds_kool - Audi-Sport.net

It will work out a lot cheaper then a brand new pump plus he will give you some cash towards your pump if it's knackered so he can refurb that.

As for coding, you may need to change the code on the pump in VCDS but I'm sure Olds_Kool can do that for the new pump before sending it.

Thanks Westy, I was thinking of trying a breakers yard nearby for one but it may be best to speak to Olds_Kool first! Can't wait to get my windows working again!

Right got a new central locking pump from local scrappy and fitted it and the windows have power and work fine! Not sure about interior lights yet.

My problem is now coding the keys. If anyone knows how to do it please let me know it will be much appreciated!

    Thanks

sorry to jump into this, as a new s3 owner why do you have to recode keys after fitting a central locking pump?

Westy - yeah Olds_Kool said he would send stuff over just trying to get it done ASAP. Will check inbox now.

epox - the central locking pump contains the circuit board refered to as the convenience module if I am right? It controls the windows and interior lights and few other things I think.

epox - I think it is possible to change just the pump part of the system and keep your current circuit board so it doesn't mess up keys. Annoyingly it was the circuit board it seems that has been causing me trouble.
