    Evening all!

The time has come to renew our insurance, we've had the car a year now and the current insurers Diamond sent us a renewal quotation which was £150 more than last year! Outrageous, we've both added a year's no claims and had no accidents, endorsements or other notifiable incidents!

We've found some very competitive quotes, eSure, Admiral and Sheila's Wheels all coming in under 500 fully comp. At this time it's insured in my fiancee's name with me as the named driver, although we did specify an "equal" policy as a couple living together who share one car. They said that was fine and we are both equally covered.

Just wondering what companies everyone is using, which mainstream companies are friendly towards minor mods as I am planning a remap very soon, any tips regarding insuring? (Clare has 10yrs no-claims, I only have 4 however the new change in equality laws mean I may get the cheaper quote?)

I remember reading on here a while back that one of the mainstream insurers (Admiral maybe?) were ok with remaps and just charged and admin fee for this? For several reasons I'm not willing to run the gauntlet by not declaring a mod for the sake of a hundred quid on my premium!

Im with greenlight. Really good for performance and modded cars. Any mod is no fee but a remap will put on 10% of your annual price. So 500 would be 550 with the remap.
Its better to give them a call rather an online quote as it doesnt come straight back with a price. Hope this helps

I used Chris Knott, they got me insured with Highway I think they are called. I was quoted between £1200 - £1600 with various other insurers, Chris Knott got me insurance for £820. Couldn't recommend them enough

I would give Adrian flux a try, I have been with them for 5 years and just renewed again. I was getting quotes from 1k to 10k (vauxhall on confused haha!) and managed to get them down to 670! Only

Just insured with Sky Insurance, they are sponsors here so you will get additional discount as a forum member. Very mod friendly too.

    Good luck

I used to use Admiral as they were the cheapest quote I could get, they were fine with a remap and they also will take other common mods but once I went stage 2+ they didn't cover the fuel pump so it was into the world of the specialist and I'm with need 2 insure now

they'll always come in higher on the off chance you cant find it cheaper you'll pay it

i quite often lie to my insurer telling them ive had it cheaper and give them a non-existant reference number knowing they wont check, they usually match it

Thanks guys, eSure are cheapest so far with Admiral close up. I am planning a remap, springs and intake so need to be fine with that or for a small fee, also quite annoyed at the hair raising excesses they want from me and the other half has really low ones! Gutting!

Esure quoted me 320 for comprehensive cover and admiral asked for 500, so I go for esure. Be aware the customer service line of esure is very very busy.

Yep, esure are coming in £100 cheaper than Elephant/Admiral are for me. Unless Elephant can price match then I'll be going with esure.

Well had a callback from Sky Insurance this morning, very disappointed to be quoted way higher than these above for a standard car, let alone with the remap! Back to the drawing board I guess...

Thanks for giving us a try and apologies we couldn't help this time around, if you wish for me to shed some light as to why we may be uncompetitive this time around, feel free to PM over your surname and postcode.

    Thanks
