    Try Tesco, www.elephant.co.uk and direct line for your insurance. I have found them to be the best (for me and the mrs)

    Well, i have been doing some wuotes fro next year when i get my S3... The difference is about 17% increase over the A3, so i reckon you will be looking a about £1100. Im 19 and have to NCB yet, and im paying £2000 for my A3 (1.8T sport), but will hopefully be about £1400 in november when i come to renew it.

    With regard to the value, it will hold better than an A3, but i reckon thwey will shortly be falling cos of the new A3

    I think(/hope) that the S3's, especially later models, will hold their value. At least until the new A3 V6 quattro comes out in November. But even then, there will not be a car badged "S3" in the Audi line-up (until they decide to produce one). So the S3 will still be quite unique, plus we all know the tuning potential of the S3's engine so....

    Those are my thoughts anyway.

    My insurance is due next week and I was looking at about £1000 with 5 years no claims and no points on my licence for my S3 (I'm 28).

    However, my present insurers miscalculated my premium and based it on the fact that I was still driving my old R21 1.7. My insurance certificate has the correct details on for the S3 but the premium is £390. As it's their mistake they've said they'll honour the quoted price /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

    I was 21 when taking out my policy on a 210 S3, have 3 years NCB. Premium was around £1000 fully comp inc. business travel! As MO-S3 says, the higher the excess the lower the premium - Mines at £1500!

    I just moved address (to what I thought to be a worse area!) and my premium just decreased by £200. So - 21 years old, 3 years NCB, 15k miles per annum, £800 fully comp inc business travel - Not bad!

    If your reasonably confident you're not going to prang it, another trick is to take out a restrictive mileage policy. Say you do 20k miles/annum, but you take a insurance policy based on 10k miles restricted. Just because you go over this mileage doesn't mean you're not insured, just means that at time of any claim you have to pay a certain amount more per mile.

    Hope this helps!

    Dan

    P.S. I'm with Direct Line.

    Have anybody used Admiral or Bell Direct for insurance and what are they like to deal with,as they are the cheaper companies i could find for a A3 1.8TSport at £460(F/C and protected)plus £350 excess.

    we found elephant to be great, my missus got insured at 22 with 1 yrs no claims on A3T at 990 quid, phoned loads of companies after this and everyone said that the quote was very very cheap and there was no way they could get anywhere near it. Next best was 1500 quid. Must admit though, they are bad with mods, exhaust and induction kit alone cost 110 quid if i remember right.

    Here here!! I'm with elephant, 25 4yrs ncb and I'm paying around £650 for my S3. Plus they are very helpful too. To answer kenny 15 above Admiral own elephant insurance so whatever admiral quote you elephant should be able to beat it as they are internet based with less overheads.

    I've been phoning around for quotes for the Cupra R (same as the S3 for insurance).

    In order of price so far...

    CIS = 2,000
    Barclaycard Direct = 1300
    Norwich Union = 1000
    Direct Line = 999
    Elephant = 900

    Don't know if this helps but Barclaycard told me they rate the A3T Quattro Sport exactly the same as the S3 (they have a scale of 0 to 100 instead of insurance groups and both these cars were 81). My quote was £800 for either of these cars (25yr male, 6yr NCB protected).

    Interestingly the "group 16" 306 GTi was alot more expensive to insure, but when I think about it, this doesn't surprise me too much...
