Instrument binnacle replacement numbers?

I have an A6 avant quattro, mid 2000, RHD 2.4l V6 APS engine code.
I am looking to replace the entire instrument pod with a 2nd hand unit.
The original part no. is 4BO 920 980 H
Do I need an EXACT part match or will, for example a 4B0920980J work with my vehicle.
I am aware that the replacement unit will have to be re-coded to the vehicle.

Why a whole new unit? Is it not repairable?

Unfortunately, the PCB traces/tracks on the board for the central LCD display have been too damaged by, what looks like, various repair attempts.

I used to work in an electronics company that repaired broken tracks but they closed.

I can't speak for the clusters regarding matching numbers, never swapped ones over.
