Hi guys as the title says, cars booked in on tuesday at a local audi specialist. Its the 70k annual inspection and before anyone asks £90 plus VAT for the service and £310 plus vat for the timing belt etc.

Question is whilst cars in is there anything else I could have done or looked at...

    Brake fluid change?

Are they doing the water pump? If it's not required then when was the coolant last changed?

I'd ALWAYS recommend changing the water pump if the cambelt is being changed. The existing water pump will come out when the new belt is fitted anyway, so you might as well change the pump if you're not planning to.

Also, wouldn't it be cheaper to source the parts yourself and that way you only have to pay for labour?

You'll save a fortune if you get your own parts. Try GermanSwedish (www.gsfcarparts.com). You're in Bradford aren't you? They've got a store there, and you'll be able to get your parts from there direct.

Water pump and cambelt cost me £44 for my Golf, same 1.8T engine. Just paid £90 labour on top.

Now that we are on topic, I am almost due a timing belt change. What are the part numbers for a 2001 A4(B6) 1.9TDI for the following?:
    - Timing Belt
    - Timing Belt Tensioner
    - Water Pump

    Thanks in advance, :icon_thumright:
