Hi,as above.I have a 96 a4 1.8t sport and the turbo performance can only really be described as very inconsistent.Sometimes i have what i would call full boost when other times it feels very sluggish with little or no boost.
it seems to have full boost at low speed ie from a standstill but at high loading from second onwards is boost limited! It seems to pull at motorway speeds too.
I am a tech by trade so have checked all the basics and carried out a full vag com check but it is dtc free. The car has covered 100k with a full and comprehensive audi service history plus i have serviced it just to be sure.

    Possibly and n75 valve?

A quick test of the N75 is to disconnect the pipe to the wastegate actuator, if you do it she will boost like mad, then wastegate is ok and the n75 or actuator is shot, f still no boost suspect wastegate and or cracked housing

Do these suffer that type of turbo issue as she has had a turbo 4 years ago under audi warranty!!!!!It wasnt a fitted parts warranty either so i cant figure out why so long out of warranty she had a turbo?

I think these have variable boost built in so if you slowly depress the accelerator the boost stays low if you hammer it down if comes in full.
if the car feels sluggish release the accelerator pedal amd depress is quickly see if that boosts it up more
