Immobiliser

I know this has been done to death but I have only managed to find detials regarding the A4 and 3. DO I need to remove the steering wheel from my A6 to get to the coils that maybe causing the problem?

I have tried the moving of the steering column, up and down, but still no joy.

Oh and I have tried my other key and the same problem with that one. The god damn immobiliser light wont stop blinking!

Would you adam and eve it - I have been out for the third time and tried the moving of the steering column theory and no joy - So I tried turning the key the other way around and hey presto it works!

This does not fill me with confidence. Can anyone give a nove any step by step instructions on how to remove your steering wheel / column covers?

what do i need to do, to disable the airbag?
