HI
Here's a conundrum it may be simple it maybe costly
My 2006 2.7tdi avant has spat its dummy out when I turn the engine off the steering lock doesn't engage and the MMI still seems live. (Ignition switch warning message has flashed up in red)
I've removed the ignition switch stripped it and cleaned it with electrical cleaner (it was full of dust etc) the warning message has gone .
I've still no steering lock or central locking (car locks on key and starts ok)
My question is this if I replace ignition switch what implecations are there regarding keys
Door lock key etc reprogramming ??
I've matched part number
What ever happened to simple locks
Kind regards
Simon

I think there is a plunger/solenoid inside that breaks so it doesn't turn off - I've not researched it further.

I also believe there is component protection on the ignition lock module - so you cant just fit one from the scrappies without Audi clearing the CP!
