    :s3addict:not long ago i fitted a new k&n panel filter,for a bit of freeflowing air to engine,but now car is not idling write,took it to audi specialist and showed problem with air flow meter.i had this replaced (not a cheap part)and also changed the old d/v for a forge 007p.it drives great a lot better than it was before,but the idle is still a bit jumpy not as much but still annoying any ideas what else it may be as vag not showing any other faults.could it be a leak or something.any help would be most appreciated.....:ermm:

    Rough Running At Idle - MAF, Ignition Coil, Spark Plug, VAC Leak, O2 Sensor, TB, Coolant temp sensor

    you could;

    use carb cleaner to clean your throttle body; http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?75378-Cleaning-The-TB

    check for any perished hoses, vacuum or boost leak somewhere

    get a vagcom scan to check engine data loggings to see what is going on

    ps how much did you pay for your MAF?

    blocked breathers can cause poor running... first one to check is the "breather pot" to right of rocker also the pipes around that area.

    Poor idling is usually a vacuum leak... pipes coming off the bottom and the 'V' shaped one on the side of the inlet mani are main candidates.... these will split and crack...

    If you have VAGCOM then check block 032... this will tell you the ECU adaption figures... if you have a vacuum leak then I would expect the idle value (first one) to be high... both should be as close to 0% (+/- 5% is normal)

    I've changed all the things that have been mention by Finesse and Paul (tuffty) and my idle has always been 'funny' since i bought it and it still is. I've give up on the perfect idle now lol

    Aslong as my car pulls like a train and doesn't stall on idle i'm happy:)

    I have exactly the same troubles with my 2003 BAM. Its not a problem, but like you say its very annoying. I'm in the process of going through the entire pipe system, removing, cleaning and inspecting every one (and replacing if necessary), but its a time consuming job and a couple of hours every weekend isn't really getting me anywhere. Need VAGCOM !!!!!

    a quick check is the hose that comes off top of the throttle body, where it runs back there are 2 one-way valves. Found that one of these on mine were sticking open and make funny idle and slight hesitation

    Where that pipe comes off the throttle body, on the 90 degree bend, I found a split, running halfway around the pipe. I have glued a repair for now until I can find a replacement. Do you know if these are Audi only ? Or can I just use some generic hose from somewhere. Only trouble is the joint onto the metal pipe going toward the rear of the engine.
