Hello all. I recently bought an A8 2.8 sport (nov 2000) after years of uming and aring.
I was hoping that some one may have an answer to a small niggle. I am getting a ticking/cliking sound from behind dash centre console area. The mechanic at the garage I bought the car from said it could be somthing to do with aircon. This seems to hold as if I have diffenant vent controls on (next to temp setting) the noise moves or is quieter/louder. It does not seem to affect any opperations its just starting to get on my nerves.

I get a whine/hum from mine (2002 Sport) and it gets on my nerves too! It goes away when I put the air con on to 'econ', so I suspect the compressor on mine. I had a non-Audi with a similar problem to yours and it was a leaf in the blower fan!

The clicking is coming from the left side of the dash consle where there are the heater position motors.You will have to feel which one is clicking and change it .Good luck...
