Hey all, im looking at getting an audi 100 for my first car. So i have a few questions about the Audi 100 and the Audi name in general. So here are the questions;

1.) How easy to maintain are Audis?
2.) Is it realiable?
3.) Does it have any common problems?
4.) How hard to work on are they?
5.) How hard are parts to find/are the parts expensive?

If somebody could get back to me, it would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hi AudiStyle,

All audi's, check the power steering first, both the pump and the steering rack, make sure there are no leaks or strange noises.

Second if you buy an auto, then check the box. The C4 shape that you are interested in did not have major failures but rather be safe than sorry, again check the box is changing up and down properly. The 100 had a sport switch on the auto which changes the ecu program of when to change gear.

otherwise I would just make sure the car has a decent service history.

in the usa, the 100's would have had the 2.8 v6... check if the car is idling right and no smoking. if the car does not want to idle then you are going to have lots of fun tryin to find vacuum leaks! (most common cause of running problems with audi engines from that era.)

as for parts, audi should have a full supply, and yes they can be rather expensive.
