I have read on here somewhere it effects the cars running and loses you some lbs/ft of torque.

Doesnt feel any slower, but i get nasty looks when i drive around with it going "blarrrrrrrrggggggh!"
Sure someone on here posted a topic on how to do it (make it louder) then quickly posted back saying not to do it as he was loosing power and the car started running ****!
It is vaccuum controlled with that pipe I told you about Leon so may have something to do with the running wherever that pipe connects to the other side of the valve...
Do I get a star?
Ive got the same noise, i think it sounds ace! I think it started when i started thrashing it a bit more than usual, it been sounding like that for about at least a month now.
No problems with the power in all that time, it sounds a bit rougher, more of a ripping noise!
Now you guys have gone and got me worried, get it checked out mate and if there is somat worng ill get mine sorted aswell
The solenoid controlling the flap will be controlled by the ecu, there is a calibration map for the way the ECU controls the flap, so basically the control of the flap is a 'control function' within the engine calibration map.
Its there for driveby noise validation (for vehicle laws and regulations for different countries) when cars are signed off for sales.
I would say that the flap is sticking when getting hot so it looks like a warranty job.
Its best not to run the engine full chat if the valve is sticking in the closed position as it will create a large amount of back pressure so the engine is working harder to push out the exhaust gases.
also looking at ETKA it looks like the valve is a part of the rear box so it can't be chnaged seperately to the rear box therefore a whole rear box will be required.
Nice new shiny pipes then L60N
As said mate , put it back to stock , if the noise is still there get it booked in.
So with the arm fully up, that means the flap is closed and reducing back pressure?
I thought with it opening up over higher revs, it would actually increase flow/reduce back pressure?
I better stop raggin it then
I forgot my pipes!!!
* LoL, i thought u were having a dig at teh state of my backbox!!!
Re-reading it i get ya now *
(Wake up Leon)
Don't want to know about the state of your back box lad!
On a serious note, have you put the car back to stock and managed to replicate the issue?
If so, get it booked in for a new zorst!!!
Nope, ive not ad a chance to yet...
Gonna keep it loud for VW festval on sunday LOL!
ha ha, gutted i'm going to be missing that.... need to try and sort out a meet soon!
You thought anymore about coming down to the regal rolling road day?
Yeah, im a definate maybe
busy as hell right now so playing everything by ear atm!
PM'd ya mate!
its your car... its cursed!!
I checked on my S3, at idle the flap is open and the arm is down, when I push on the arm fully up, the valve is closing.. strange isnt'it ?
Just to give it a sportier sound on tickover when its standing still..
