HTML countdown timers

    I noticed HTML is switched to off when I tried to add a link for an external countdown that i wanted to add to my signature
    or have i done it wrong? I can see why advertising and all that, just wanted to make sure.Thanks

    The ability to post HTML (and any other markup/script/executable code) is heavily restricted for security reasons.

    i thought that might be the case, it was just when i saw the globe linky thing in the signature edit.

    That'll only allow you to post a link.

    You might find an image-based countdown timer which will work on the forum, it'll just be a bit less dynamic - i.e. it'll calculate time remaining and render an image to a static URL; it won't continue to count down after the page loads, but it'll at least show time remaining at the point the page loads.
