What the article fails to highlight is that the number of car crimes has actually fallen in the last year by 9% London Key Facts and Statistics I remember when £18,000 cars could be stolen with a 50p screwdriver even with a alarm and a immobiliser. Still those with cars worth nicking might need to look at additional security.

    Oh but it does ....................

"Car crime has fallen in recent years as manufacturers create even more secure vehicles.

But in countries closer to Bulgaria, like Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands, the crime rate has started to rise after years of decrease."

Seems like they feel it could also increase again in the UK.

Yes it stated that car crimes had fallen due to the efforts of the manufacturers efforts but the article says there is a growing nature of the threat and that about 21,000 cars were stolen in the capital last year, according to the latest figures and a further 68,000 were broken into. It says tens of thousands of cars are being stolen or broken into every year by thieves using electronic hacking equipment. But if the figures for last year show a reduction of 9% isn't the article a contradiction and just scaremongering?

Trouble is the more the press 'hacks' think this is a story and the more they publicise it the worse it will get, then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy....

If someone wants your car, it doesn't matter what technology the keys use, they'll find a way to get it. Just enjoy your car and its features and stop worrying about things that are unlikely to happen to you - if it does happen, that's what insurance is for!
