    Hi All

I am looking to lower my quattro (avant 2.5tdi), she is a 203 with 70k. The current tires are 18s with 245s, I do not have the money to change the tyres at the moment. What is the most cost effective way of upgrading the dampening and lowering the car without using cheap coilovers? Had a set of JOMS on another car and it wrecked the handling

as for wrecking the handleing ! did you get it aligned ?

aligned and spot on they were a worse performing shock than a standard. Are lowering springs worthwhile?

I'd go eibach h+r lowering springs 40mm then you can upgrade to eibach or similar sport dampers and avoid coils altogether. thats what i'm doing, if you've got a sport already you'll go about 20mm lower, if its an se then you'll see a huge difference,

I use Eibach lowering spring's with Audi B5 Front spring perches up front. The B5 spring perches will drop the car 10mm-15mm for very little money.

All Audi A4's old and new have spring perches up front in a nut shell they slide over the front shock. The shock needs to be removed from the car then remove coil spring an the B6 platform/perch, slide on the B5 perch and refit your standard or lowering spring and refit. If you fit a lowering spring, say 30mm srpring along with the B5 pearch you could have a drop of 40mm-45mm. I use coilovers at the rear of the car.Rear coilover Spring's and adj platforms can be bought as single items from many coilover dealers.
