    Hello ASN

I have had my number plate for sale for quite some time now.

I had it valued by a few companies and all have valued it from £1500-2500.

    The plate is MCT 356
How do you work out how much it is?

I was offered £300 today for my plate but thought that was a bit cheeky. He reckoned my plate was not worth as much as the companies have valued it to be.

    Anyone got any advice?

    Cheers

Do i assume its a Black and Silver Plate i.e. before 1973 ? if so then you can add an extra 0 to the end of it, as black and silver plates are in demand and i dont think you would have to wait long to sell it on ebay,

It would be worth a bomb to a Ferrari 356 owner who happens to have those initials! It would be worth next to nothing to me. I'd ask for a bit more than £300 for it personally, nearer to £1k for 3 letters and 3 numbers on these plate websites.

Good point! Think I will look for some forums!

I did think £300 was a bit nuts haha. My dad paid £2300 for the plate in 1987 so thought it has still got to be worth something!

I see you now have an idea of its worth. No need for this thread to remain open, as it could easily turn into a for sale thread.

Well yes and no, yes you could be right, but i also feel that it is of help to others should this same issue arise, an old guy who had a really old classic car rotting away in his garage had a number plate of A75 on it was sold for £2000, the guy who got the car from him got a moody MOT for that car and sold the number plate on for over £30k, I remember reading about it in one of the newspapers years ago when i was on the train going to work in London, £28k profit for a days work,

Ok , i will get my coat,,,,,

If your dad paid that much back then I would base it on that and advertise it for 5-6k minimum.

Number Plate valuation websites are way over the top on price, I had a car with the plate R32 VKL, 6 digits with the model of a car in it and the letters of the manufacturer in the last bit, it was valued at over £600 but sold for £156. Still ment I got the car with it on for free (cost me £60 for the car and then a few quid to get it MoT'd) and I kept the car for about 3 years on its new reg.

    Thanks again for the replies!!

Exactly Turkster! Its not exactly like I'm asking anyone to buy it. Just want some advice! Always get one person on here who has to groan at things!!

Sports Tractor! Nice nickname!! Ill leave the thread open just incase it comes in handy to anyone else! Im not majorly bothered if it doesn't sell. Will just put it on my car when the retention runs out! Can only go up in value i guess!

Thanks again for everyone who gave their advice/opinions!!
    Muchly appreciated! haha

We have rules and guidelines to adhere to,for sale threads are not allowed or else we would have a forum full of adverts causing it to slow dramatically and then you would be groaning, these 'how much is it worth' threads tend to be a disguised for sale thread.

    THREAD LOCKED
