OK, as mentioned in posts yesterday, I've got a new job that come with a company car, so my beloved 1.8 QTS Avant is now up for sale. Before I go to town and put it on Ebay or wherever.. what type of value is it worth - ball park ..... Just so I can set my expectations.... before I got to we buy any c:wtf:r

Good Bits:
180BHP QTS Avant HPI Clear as time of purchase
I've always changed the oil 6 months after the service with genuine oil filter and use Castrol Edge Oil and I've always idled the car after running.
Main dealer service (apart from 1 x specialist)
Factory fitted electric Sun roof - working
Factory fitted Cruise control - working
Factory fitted Stealth Tow Bar pack - electrics working
New Clutch and DMF Flywheel @ 150K miles
4 x Refurbed alloys with Goodyear All seasons approx 3mm of tread Spare needs a refurb but has a nearly new ZZ3
Loads of history and parts changed.
Original engine and Turbo.
Larger brake discs (using caliper adaptors)
New calipers at front with discs and pads
Was used as a daily drive up until January this year though the it gets a use every few weeks to keep it OK. Always started (apart from when battery died 7 years ago) never let me down and I still love going out in it as I prefer this to the pool shed Qashqui :sos: I have at the moment.....

Noteworthy points.
Original engine and Turbo. 216K miles
Will need a cam belt replaced this year
Some pond scum left a rather nasty car park dent on the rear passenger door
There is an LPG system on the car however this will be removed as it require a service / pump change so a filling cap will be present on the rear quarter.
Has been Supagarded - good paint for 16 years though could do with a mop. This car is 16 years old so will have some "life marks" on it

I've only used them once for a Polo. Their on line quote was not too far of the mark as compared to trading in, trouble is they go over it with an electron microscope. My car was 6 years old and they obviously expected it to be showroom, actually make that concourse, condition to even contemplate that price. My 2 boys had had it for 3 years so no chance of that but it was in good nick for it's age with low mileage. I would probably have taken the online tempter but the real price was almost £1k less, almost 25% so I traded in.

A guy I know in 'the trade' told me WBAC price plus 10% is a good starting point for a private sale, I really don't know though, they never seem to be worth as much as you think they are, unless buying!

WBAC are usually okish for newer stuff, perhaps i the 3 to 6 year old range.

End of the day, they're not magic, they're just buying your car then selling it into the trade, it needs to be cheap enough that they can turn a profit, so you might get 10% less. But getting 9 grand for a car thats worth 10, with no hassle and instant sale, for a lot of folk is a worthwhile exchange.

For a 15 year old TQS? You'll be lucky to get a few hundred quid from them i recon. As above they might initially quote a better looking figure, but they'll soon knock you right down. Theres no decent trade outlet for old cars, so they have to offer peanuts or its not worth their while. Basically scrap value.

Its probably worth £800 or thereabouts. The mileage will put people off, as will the bodged up LPG system. If you fixed the LPG the mileage is less of an issue, someone buying an LPG car is likely to be intending to do lots of miles anyway, sorting the cam belt and dent might get you a bit more.

They knocked 1500 pound of my father in laws 07 cmax 2 year ago and only started at 9grand

Thanks....
I wasn't expecting anything sensible from WBAC:puke2: ... Lol!
I know the milage is like the Starship Enterprise :rocket:... but £800 is a good indication - thanks !!
Its a straight shell with lots of decent parts if someone wanted to re-shell / break....
WRT the LPG system - I worked as UK technical support for this system 10 years ago ... until the backing company fell out with the Italian suppliers and pulled the plug on what was a brilliant system that was unfortunately released too early ...it is still sold - just not in the UK... there will not be any trace of the LPG system apart from a blank filler cap, so no bodges.. While I'd like to sort the nigglies, I don't think I have time at the moment .....

Meanwhile I have to choose a new motor ....... Wiesel 2.0 TDI A4 Avant S Line or Ultra Sport ..... ? No Quattro though :sob::sorrow::sorry:
Just had some crappy dusty rain here so will have to wash again for the pictures

The filler cap hole is a bit annoying and unsightly though. You put up with it becuase of the fuel savings, but it'd sure put me off if it wasnt real...

I'd defo buy a quattro, i find FWD is hopeless after years of quattro driving, when i used to drive my parents 1.8T FWD i'd light the wheels up at every ****** roundabout. Even my RWD BMW has the traction control light on quite frequently.

Kev,speaking as someone with a 1.8t Sport FWD ...You need to slow down on roundabouts that will cure it....

And before you say that's why I bought a Quattro your on a public highway not Silverstone...:)

PS. Yeah expecting Dogs Abuse from the Quattro Brigade....save your effort lads just joking..

Its not really about driving like a hooligan, just setting off from standstill, especially in the wet, would often see some wheelspin. It was probably a combination of a different car, different clutch bite point, different power delivery (lighter car and remapped engine vs my heavier standard quattro) etc etc meaning i was just setting off too sharply, and i'm sure after a while of driving it you'd get used to it and simply adapt your style, but its not confidence inspiring. I know in the quattro if i see a gap and nail it, it just goes, no messing about screeching tyres or whatever, just off out into the gap and away. And you can do that wet or dry without really worrying about it.

I guess after driving a 4wd car for a long time you sorta forget, and most other FWD cars i'd driven were underpowered so it wasnt an issue in those.

Problem with LPG is its hard on valves and seats, I personally would be wary of buying a high miler. especially if the bonus of LPG cheapness wasn't with the vehicle. It's probably 5 or 600 quids worth of car, budgetting for the inevitable engine demise
