How loud is the alarm supposed to be

How loud is the Audi alarm supposed to be-mine just beeps and hazards flash, is it a 2 stage alarm by any chance, in where it will get louder if triggered again?

Its crap.

I had a window smashed a few weeks back, and the alarm either never went off or I couldn't hear it.

My MINI had a better alarm than that!

I read that it was something to do with bylaws in germany! Something like no car theft between 7pm-7am or something like that

If anyone can find a louder cheap direct replacement for the alarm siren that requires no other jiggery-pokery then I'd be interested, forking out for a full aftermarket alarm system just doesn't seem quite right.

I seem to remember that it's possible to change the system to sound the horn instead. I think you can do this using VAG-COM. Can someone confirm?
