My 2010 BE doesn't have this, would love this feature as it'd be so useful on dark nights. Can it be done on a vehicle without auto-lights?

ch/lh lights need the auto lights pack installed. it uses the sensor to check if its dark enough to light up the headlights/fog lights.
there is a hack around but so far it is not working on 2010 models.
IMO auto lights is so worth the retrofit costs!

On my car we found in VCDS the option to use fogs as part of the LH/CH function so it is available, well on 2011 cars :)

Still trying to work out this function on non-auto lights. So far, by pulling headlight stalk I can enable Coming home lights (fogs & LED DRL sidelights, LED tails & number plate lights.

I've checked for this option everywhere but can't find the option in VCDS . Might be something to do with the CE Module I have. I'm not too sure.

Why do you thinks its the ce you got? you have the k module dont you?

8P0-907-279: 17 byte (base)
8P0-907-279-A: 17 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-B: 21 bytes (base)
8P0-907-279-C: 21 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-D: 17 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-E: 23 byte (base)
8P0-907-279-F: 23 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-H: 24 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-J: 30 bytes (base)
8P0-907-279-K: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-L: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-M: 30 bytes (base)
8P0-907-279-N: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-P: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-Q: 30 Byte (Highend)

Loking at the above any other ce module would not help you as the k has 30 bytes like the rest of the highend ones, unless the function is determined in other ways???

Not sure on this but aint the k module old?
The ones below are newer and may contain the solution to our problem..,.just a guess will have a word with vast whne i go see him
Slightly off topic but then with the same logic would the headlight switch not work to allow just the front led drl to be turned on with out the rear tails?

8P0-907-279-L: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-N: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-P: 30 Byte (Highend)
8P0-907-279-Q: 30 Byte (Highend)

the K module was the highest module available for the pre facelift cars.
since then the newer 09 modules changed so much in terms of wiring that it wouldnt work properly with the older cars. now on the 2010+ cars the modules use 3 big plugs with 52 pins each (instead of the old 12 plugs with the average 11 pins each) so although it may still be a highend 30 byte module it is in fact a very different piece of kit.

as far as i know there is no coding to allow the ch/lh via fogs. that being said i will look into it as i believe there are some who have managed it maybe using other means...

drls can be coded to prefacelift cars via fog, in fact that is pretty easy.
the ch/lh via fogs is not an option as far as i have seen on prefacelift cars. looking for the mod now

ok so after some digging around i have found on 2010+ cars it is down to coding and the light sensor
unfortunately if the light sensor is not present then ch/lh cannot be activated. if you have the sensor then here is the coding:
ce module: Byte 17 Bit 3 is to activate the function
that being said im pretty sure that the option would also be available in the DIS

For pre-facelift cars the ch/lh via fogs has been done but with the use of an additional module that needs to be wired into the car to enable the 'hack'... this module enables the ch/lh via fogs for all A3's from 2003-2010

I have already emailed the person that has these modules in Germany, so will report back once i get a reply from him.

just for reference here are a couple videos posted showing the function working on prefacelift cars.

I've just E-mailed the guy from Germany as ASH Quoted. And it's €55 including shipping for the module. I already have the instructions ....as he has E-mailed them to me already.

If you want the instructions send him an E-mail :
audi.diagnose@gmail.com Name is Andy

Or send me a PM with your E-mail address and I'll send it too you.....As I've already converted it from German to English.

Thanks Ash for your find ......Your my Real NHN ..

but would my drl not differ as they are xenon?i also have a base ce

Does your car have the light pack?Well that takes k and n out the equation or it maybe that all the facelift cars need the additional module ash has found to add the fogs to ch/lh

As my car has the light sensor if i get the relavant c/e could i also not code it? or is the new light sensor diffrent?
That way as i need a new c/e neway, i would not also need to get the additional module?

Basically to add the fogs to ch/lh its another 55?or is this to get all of it working
I am first going to get the headlight switch and get the led and drl to work then in the future add this, let me know how you get on diggz
Hopefully we can work out if it is possible via one of the new highend c/e for the future..dont think k & n will work, and not the air filter

ok lets start again!

if you have bi-xenon headlights with drl then the coding will be there to enable the drl via fogs.
check your central electrics module for the coding for drl via fogs

for cars from 2003-2008 you can enable ch/lh without the light sensor
for 2009+ cars it looks like you need the light sensor for the ch/lh to be enabled properly

Now as for the ch/lh in the fogs...

2004-2009 cars do not have the coding to enable it. its not about what CE you have... its just not there. to get it working you need that module which that german guy Andy has made

for the 2010+ cars the fogs can be enabled in the fogs in the CE but again it seems that it only works with the light sensor. as it detects when its dark enough to enable the ch/lh

I can't understand why we would need the autolight sensor.. there must be a way to force it to "daylight" all the time, and then manualy switch it over when your in the car.
*Rant is not pointed at you(thnx for the research), just VW/Audi electronics i general*

You can't get a highend module for are year of cars ...that would mean a big job of re-wiring are whole CE Board Which is a big ass job. The only easy way is this module that Andy is selling. I'm going to buy one very soon.... hopefully this week.

Do you mean why would a light sensor be required for just the fog to work out the light if the headlight and drl are working and already working out the amount of light? and ash thanks for the research.toplad

A guess the question should have been.....whats my car classed as when its a conversion?

U sure? what would be the difference wiring a k module and a more newer 1?

coming home and leaving home is a feature that comes with the auto lights pack. it was never meant to be on a car that does not have the auto lights. thats why you need the light sensor.
on the my10+ they changed things, and with these changes they somehow combined the earth wire hack with the light sensor.
to be honest if you guys really want ch/lh then just upgrade to auto lights... its a very handy feature and costs less than a xenon retrofit.

So hold on, let me get this straight. One minute Nigel is the electrical god of the forum and the next minute another user is the "Real NHN"?! What does that even mean? I don't get it at all. Over the last few weeks I've been reading constant "DIGZZ" from you @ Nigel in various installation threads, why is this?

To be quite honest with you, Nigel is one of the most important users on this forum. He is not obliged to help people out whatsoever, yet he does on a daily basis, and recently people are cussing and slatting his name for no good reason whatsoever. He's one of the most honest, helpful and trustworthy people I've ever met. In the society we live in today, its very rare to find these qualities in a person.

So lay off.

First off I don't lick ass:p  @ any one. Just because he seems like he is such a nice person on ASN it Doesn't mean he's like that in real life. If you do you will be deceived. That's just what I experienced when he worked on my car for my bits and boobs that was installed. Now he's work ethic I didn't have any issues at all. But what I experienced after hand....well that's a different story in it's self......

Now the fact that NHN has a grudge against me as some-other people on ASN would know this ......it's his problem not mine I ain't got any problems or grudges against NHN..but the fact that he uses ASN as a platform to make money seeming like he helps loads of people but really he wants to get more install jobs and get more money... It's fine with me ......Everybody has there own hustle........I don't have a problem with that at all.

ASH seems to be getting on the same type of Hustle Which is only a good thing for the ASN community. "N8" What's wrong with Prising Ash as the Next NHN. nOTHING might I say .....I'm only encouraging positive comments to the Dude. As NHN is one of the top guys on here that has Lots of knowledge on Audi's in general.

The more knowledgeable and installation people on ASN is only a better thing...."Might I say" for ASN.

But what I do have a problem with is:

"NHN" Your all helpful to me on ASN ..."NHN" Then when you got what you want which is £ ... and have a little disarrangement on what we discussed on the install ...You seem to avoid my posts and anything else on ASN to do with me ...lol ..It's fine thou it's very childish might I say thou. Let me just say... you can't avoid your previous customers on a popular forum as they will always be there posting And helping out other people. So there ain't no point Beefing :box:.

Also I'm not the Only person on ASN That has had issues with NHN.

:end_of_discction:

I personally have to agree with N8 on the above quoted comment. i have learnt alot from Nigel and i would easily say that he still knows a ton more than i do on these cars. And yes he does not have to answer any questions or help anyone. I still bug Nigel now and then for things as i know that he can help me but i don't expect anything from him, as Nathan pointed out he doesnt have to!

However I do not want to be involved in anyone's personal disputes. I appreciate your kind words diggz (this is not just aimed at you), which mean alot (if i am being compared to the Jedi master) but at the same time I would ask that my name is not brought up with any issues that anyone may have with another user (may that be Nigel or anyone else), just because we like to help people out. :whip:

and for anyone that might think that i am trying to compete with Nigel... its nothing like that. if anything we could create an ASN team :friends:

edit: just read it all back and i cannot even see how i am even being involved in any dispute, all i did see was that diggz was saying thanks to me...

ANYWAY
now lets get back to the topic of this thread!

That's what I'm talking about ASH ....Less politics and More Knowledge on Mods and installs and Pics of are Audi's.

I didn't want to have to go in detail about the issues I had with NHN . But N8 seems to think I have a grudge or an issue. Which I don't.

First off, who's ass is being licked? I'm merely stating my opinion from my own experiences in life. So are you assuming that I've not met him in person? I've been dealing with the guy on and off for over 3 years now and speak to him, almost everyday in fact, so I'm aware of what type of person he is. So explain to me what actually happened then?

My point has nothing to do with Ash, I don't even know the guy. But by saying that he's the next "NHN" or the real "NHN" means that you are putting him on some sort of pedestal only to later slate him, doesn't make any sense?!

I'd like to know who these people are tbh. You make out like Nigel is some sort of scammer, I've bought stuff off him, and owed him between £500-£1200 at a time, and no paid him for weeks on end, doesn't sound like the type of install and run person you make him out to be. To be honest, it's not all been about money as he's yet to do work on my car, in the 3 years that I've known him. But he has constantly advised me how to & helped me find parts that weren't even supplied by him.

I can explain what happened ..but there's no point as it will be a back and forth thing for days and days and it won't get us anywhere.Everybody has disagreements all the time. I'm not on ASN For arguments.

So just leave it as that.

Now let's get back to my thread.

I can see why n8 is vouching for nhn, a dont think its about licking arse but respect for a gent who really has helped a lot of people on here including myself,he puts the time in to research and puts the info out and its up to the member if they want to use him or not, if he makes some paper then he is entitled to on his own work, he has also helped other installers to make a living through his research so i have to give the guy credit there

diggz you may have had your issues but airing them here will not solve or encourage anything postive for you?
I see your frustration but life is always about alternatives there are people out there who know there stuff and cant be bothered to come on here as i have sorted you out myself with someone and also ash who is always helpful, along with n8

We all have different views and opinions and lifes too short to be arguing over why someone is talking about religion in their sig on a audi forum, you just gotta let be

Not taking no side or want to be involved but i dont like to this kind of stuff

Its the knowledge we have and share that is important and the reason why we are all here at ASN

So Comon guys cant we all just get along? whos got some weed mayn?
