Hose into airbox

This hose, can i just put a rag in it, or does it HAVE to be connected to the filter? I dont have anything to tighten it currently.

I have a filter on the end of mine.

Secondary AIr Intake (SAI)... draws air into the exhaust ports for emissions purposes... most peeps either stick a little air filter on it (cheap from ebay) or do an SAI delete (see stickies...)

delete the sai and save some weight.
i ditched mine and the evap and n112 and the n249.
All the stickies, no problems if you use resistors or leave electrically connected.
