What sorta bulbs have u used? and what sort of headlights does it have?

If it has projectors and ur using H7R bulbs then the light output is ****. Ud have to change to normal H7 bulbs. U shudnt be using HIDs in the a3 anyway, they blow the wiper motors

What kalvin bulbs are they? The higher the kalvin the bluer/purple and that means less light compared to lower kalvin bulbs I.e. 6000k (as best to daylight)

6k is too blue, 4300k is what you need to actually see where you are going

Successfully use the newer style headlights you will need to code the headlights into the central electric module and use at least oem ballasts so that the computer can pick it up. You can then use whatever bulbs you like. I personally have 8000k bulbs in mine with no issues so 6000k isn't a problem at all

you dont code the ballasts! you code the car to tell it that it has xenons and then it goes to detect the ballast. aftermarket ballasts dont talk to the CE modules in our cars which is why they wont work and you will get errors if you code the car to xenon type.

Just to pick ur brain. So we all know about the wiper problems, but say if u coded the car to think it had xenons and then ran an aftermarket hid kit, would tht not overcome the issue?

its a voltage spiking issue, nothing to do with coding sadly.

It spikes the can bus somehow and kills the wiper motor, doesnt seem to matter what brand, and can bus "safe" they are, it still nukes motors.

I was having this conversation the other day as I'm going oem xenons and someone else suggested hids however I then thought could you not wire in relays to power the aftermarket ballasts?

no that wont work as the car would not accept the coding and would result in errors. the OEM ballasts talk directly to the cars Electronic module so an aftermarket one would fail still.
just get oem ballasts... save you in the long run

I know although the only put off right now for me apart from monies is that you can't get any 8P2 with DRL's so been looking as using oem ballasts and projectors with the A4 style housings but looking to cost even more... hmm..
