well here it is guys my evo 4.5 strip and rebuild slow ass thread. so far has been off the road for 3 years and im in no rush to finish as doing everything myself.

the day i brought here from a sports and performance garage in basingstoke

had some fun on the m3 on way back home to camberley. had a race with about 4 cars. 2 porsche's a mazda rx8 and a golf r32

anyway after driving it as should be for approx 11 months the clutch decided to give way and started slipping like mad so change of clutch prevailed,

so clutch all done within the day and all back together. clutch cost £100 second hand off ebay but was brand new exedy stage 1.

so driveable again. another 6 months go past with much fun and rolling road done at torque of the devil in uxbridge just to get power reading. hmmmmmmmmmmm only 215bhp at wheels somethings wrong so they do some investigating. it only making0.9 bar at turbo so diagnosis is a mullered actuator.

ok so another month down the line and i start hearing bottom end knock from engine, so car off the road again for engine strip down and rebuild. on removal of engine and strip down investigation shows crank walk as crank bearings have failed and centre bearing walls have nearly dissappeared. right time to take drastic measures here, buy another engine or rebuild on i have. i choose to find a cheap evo 5/6 engine as the bearings in these engines are made differently the thrust bearing are seperate to the main crank bearings, this is a modification mitsi done to combat the crank walk issue the evo 4 suffered with.

anyway i find a evo 5/6 hybrid engine on ebay, cheap as chips £300 up north so stump up the cash and take a trip with a mate up north.

on return we strip engine down to check it over to find these in side

forged pistons and forged rods with arp rod bolts.

while shell is on rottisserie spit i have noticed a few little bits of rust that will need cutting out and welding a plate in

not too bad considering it a preg but only been in this country since 2007

the battery tray in engine bay is completely rotten aswell but thats ok as battery is being relocated to the boot anyway.

this is as far as i have got so far in a 4 year period.

let me know what you guys think so far and any feedback is much appreciated

    thanks guys hope you like
