Missing you all loads. I'll be posting my bits for sale (ooer!!!) this week. Sorry to all who have requested the vagcom lead. I'm trying to find out if it will work on the MK3 mondeo. It's also OBDII so I'm trying to find out it's useable...

I'll post what I've got on ebay and submit the link to the classifieds here, all B5 stuff, mostly avant-ish.

So what's the craic? The mondeo forum is pretty dull compared to here, for one, the smilies are nowhere near as good and the tech help doesn't seem quite as broad. The do have a ford wiki though which is pretty cool. Only as in depth as the amount people have submitted of course, but all the same, quite good.

Missing stinky loads... I've nicknamed the Mondeo as 'The Suit', Burtons Suit to be specific. i.e. Looks alright, relatively cheap but everybodies got one and doesn't last as long as other, higher quality brands...:whistle2:

The 2.0duratic engine is 'alegedly ' in the 140bhp+ bracket but tbh isn't that great, for a dohc I have to rev the tits off it to get anywhere, low end torque doesn't exist and I really miss the sports suspension. Also had a couple of 'woops!' with the fwd too, bring back the B5q!

Anyhoo, will post again when the audi bits are up for sale.

Th ebest place for Ford stuff is www.passionford.com it can be a little clicky until you are known but the advice and assistance on there is second to none when it comes to Fords. That's my other home when I'm not here. Onm there though I'm a 20k+ poster :undwech:

Should i report that to somebody? Funny that it's still got the audisport.net sticker in the back window too.... Looks like they've just smartened up the engine bay...

Maybe a wee phonecall to DVLA?

from what i can gather its not illegal to alter mileage but it is fraud to claim altered mileage is genuine

so if the seller is the same guy who bought it of you then they are commiting an offence

is the garage local to you? guessing a fair few cars they are selling will of been clocked so a call to trading standards might be in order

Ye i;d get onto trading standards first off.

I suspect they're dodgy though, Its a registered trader on Autotrader, but only lists two mobile numbers and their company name is "T".

Might be worth notifying Autotrader too?

    ^^^^ Ha!

    Cunny funt. :haha:

Re. my dads neighbours input who works for VOSA: He more or less said wash your hands of it. If the new / next owner does a check then at best I may get asked to verify the mileage when I sold it and the garage which did the MoT is just round the corner from me, straight up hard workin mechs, they'd back me up too. (they did the test nothing to hide + records)

An option I've got is just to contact DVLA and appraise them of the sale (regardless of my relationship to the vehicle) or to trading standards re. the fraudulent sale of the vehicle.

The missus pointed out an interesting point. If they are selling the car (or have sold as may now be the case) with 145k on the clock they must have altered the MoT doc to show this. This in turn invalidates all other legal docs relating to the car including insurance and road tax so in turn means an unsuspecting buyer could potentially have the car seized and crushed! This would of course have to include a rather zealous traffic cop or jobs worth MoT station..... makes you think though....

I think I'm going to try to contact the sellers myself before contacting the DVLA or VOSA. I'll let ya'll know th craic.

Nothing can invalidate the insurance policy mate, at least not the third party bit.

Drive around with no tax, no MOT, and bits hanging off, and the insurance is still valid. Says so on the certificate and its a requirement of the road traffic act.

You may find if you had an accident the insurance company would get angry and come after you for the money after its all said and done, but as far as the road traffic act goes, the car is insured.

Even the tax disc can be baught with one month remaining on an MOT and last 12 months...

The other thing is that even if they have altered the MOT certificate itself, its logged on their computer system as having a higher mileage, so surely someones going to notice at some point...

And the BMW 3 series has outsold the Mondeo for the last couple of years. So the Mondeo less of a clit car and is actually more exclusive. :p

Well, bit of a sweeping statement there. Out of date/no tax or no MoT will invalidate any insurance straight off... I'm surmising that a fraudulent MoT showing incorrect mileage or an altered V5 showing incorrect mileage are going to have the same effect?

if you want a new MOT certificate with the new haircut mileage you just get a new certificate. any dodgy garage will sort you an MOT with whatever date or mileage you want. seen them do pretty much anything for a fee.

That said, take your dad's/dad's mates advice.
If he has a new certificate and things get messy he can start claiming you sold it to him like that and drag you into it. easy to say you have nothing to hide but ball ache if you start having to prove it.

Sorry but No MOT will not invalidate the THIRD PARTY part of the insurance, neither will no TAX.

Take a look at your insurance certificate, it will say something along the lines of "Nothing contained within these documents affects the right of a third party to make a claim". Means even if you've lied thru your teeth about prior convictions, or modifications to the car, the mandatory third party part of the insurance is still valid.

Thats not to say the insurance company wont try to reclaim their money, but as far as the road traffic act is concerned, its insured.

So your saying that a Mondeo is the new 3 Series? So by that logic, the ST220 is the new M3? Awesome.

    very true,
if you get caught driving without an mot and that supposedly invalidates your insurance under the road traffic act then why dont the police charge you with driving with no insurance too if caught?? same for a tax disc?? 3rd party liability is always coverd. no insurance carries a penalty of fine and points where as no mot or tax is just a fine suggesting one is a criminal law the other a civil law i think something like that

Hmmm. Gonna look into this more. Only out of curiosity than anything else. And I finally settled for doing nothing about the car being sold on clocked. I can get supporing evidence about the original sale from Ebay etc re the original values on the car, though I'm sure it won't come to that..
