Here is my RS4

Not sure of the age but its the new version from 2006 onwards
It looks like a new model but the X plate leads me to think it's 2001, ? re-shelled.

Its his personal plate!
Ah right but it makes it look older doesn't it. I've not seen a plate like this on a superb new car. FYI saw a Black R8 in Devon with OY 57 ??? looked superb, I look at cars not plates, maybe OK if the car's naff but a nice car doesn't need them in my eyes.

lol. But its in the owners eyes that matter

I agree 100% mate but it's not the owner what looks at them is it unless theys not moving! Still seems a shame to make a new car look older.

Strange point of view as it obviously a private plate. The only RS4s available in 2001 were the B5's not B7's. Body style alone should tell you that its a new car. (mine is on a '98 plate)

Private plates are bought for a variety of reasons and usually say different initials. My plate is N8 KOW. I'm not tryin to make my car look like an N reg, its my name.

N8 = Nate (Nathan - First Name)
KOW = Kowalski (Surname)

Sorry not obvious to me. I have seen several rebodied motors my mate ran a bodyshop and you'd be surprised what folks do! Still if you have an original 2.7 B5 good on you and hang on to it!! Cheers:bye:

OK seems fine by me but unless I knew you it could stand for Kidderminster Office Worker... Cheers mate:icon_thumright:

I don't think I'll be able to explain this but I'll try. They didn't make B7's in 2001 and you can't reshell a B5 into a B7. And mine is a 2007 4.2 on a '98 private plate (R5 AWD), I was making the point that plates don't dictate the model year.

I appreciate that but as Audis age gracefully it is difficult!
You are clearly more into B5 and B7 than me my point was I did not have the in depth knowledge you clearly have and it looked like a 2001 motor (possibly re shelled).

I am sure yours doesn't look like an 'R Reg' 1998 motor though, have you any pictures? Still not really got it though but let's concentrate on nice motors rather than bits of plastic!!

Apologies for the B5/B7 vagueness (and sorry to Klauster for going way off topic). This might make a little more sense.

Audi only make RS models for the last two years of a chassis production run. The original RS4 was based on the A4 B5 chassis and was available in 2000/2001. The current RS4 (available for 2006 and 2007) is based on the A4 B7 chassis which is about to be replaced with the B8.

This is a B5 RS4 (Olly's in fact)

And this is the B7 RS4 (mine)

As you can see they're pretty different, which is why Klauster's couldn't be a 2001.

hehe, thanks for the comments. Yes its a personal plate, normally you can tell its a personal plate cos its less letters/numbers than a standard plate. The lower the number of letters the more expensive the plate usually. I have it cos I like it, it makes the car alittle more individual and also hides the year of car, which is nice when the car is a year or so old... not that there is anything wrong with that.

Sorry for the confusion anyway :sorry:

From empty (very, very empty) the RS4 tank is 62ltrs. Most fill-ups are about 58ltrs. Not sure how that compares as I've never had to fill an 8L.

Costs me about £60 ish to fill the tank on my 8L S3 with V-Power.

hi mate, rs4 is a beautiful car, i would leave the windows tinted personaly i think it looks much nicer plus better security as nobody can see what is in the car. as for cleaning the car i use zip wash and wax, wonder wheels wheels cleaner, any black polish(if you use white it gets stuck in stone chips and scratches so will stand out) and for the rubber bits round windows and all other trim and glass use auto glym products, they are the best. if you look at my pictures on page 9 in the post pics of your car bt you will see how clean i can get the car but it takes hours, cheers mate

(also N8KOW ill second your loser point about auditor, if you dont like the car or have problems with it dont bother commenting and its clearly a private plate) cheers

well i have used these on my cars for the last 3 years along with my dad on his cars for god knows how long, and between a handful of people i talk to they are decent products, also you will find you get all your vinyl and rubber care products aswell as glass and other trim products from auto glym. as for the wonder wheels its not advised to leave on for any length of time i would say to use 1ce every 3 months on average and wash immediatly after with a detergent mix then polish using a standard car polish, this stops break dust sticking to your wheels as badly and makes cleaning far easier, a piece of advise given to me buy auto-image alloy wheel dealer and specialist. cheers mark

Possibly better moving the debate over to the detailing forum, but there are much better products available these days than AutoGlym. Use wheel wax or sealant on your wheels, not polish. And take cleaning advise from detailing professionals, not people that sell wheels.

Hey Klauster, am i right in thinking you used to own an S3?? if so how does the RS4 compare?? its obviously going to be better but how much?

thanks

Mark, Chris is right trust me. Look at detailingworld.co.uk or polished bliss and look at their work, believe me I used to think the same as you, I was terribly wrong. All my car washing products are getting dashed in the bin and I've got to know get £500 to spend on products to get my collection up to scratch...

Lovely car.

I'm finding it hard to not inflict swirls to my car as cant pre-wash it to remove the heavy dirt! Boot of my car is swirled already and been really careful too.

So my tip would be pre wash with a good snow foam before washing by hand!

well ill admit when im defeated but for the sake of 500 quid ill be sticking to my medeocre auto glym, dont quite have the cash spare to spend that on cleaning gear, cheers guys
