Can anyone help me with this please?
I recently purchased an 04 plate sline quattro. Its a lovely car but the garage where i purchased it from (120miles away) upgraded a lot of the lighting to LEDs. As far as im aware the front side/parking lights, rear number plate lights and all the interior lighting has been done. I must say i do like the brighter lighting, but there comes a problem with it.
the onboard computer "bing bongs" more than the avon lady at the door telling me i have a bulb failure. Currently the most common are number plate and parking/ side light. When checked they are working fine.
now ive read a bit about canbus, but dont really understand it. Im guessing its something to do with the type of LEDs fitted?
Can someone in the know enlighten me if this is the likely cause, and additionally if it is the bulbs recommend a suitable replacement that wont keep bringing up " bulb failure" on the dash as its getting annoying.
thanks

What chassis is your 04 plate quattro?

Our lighting specialist is site sponsor @t8ups , we just need some more info on what model car you have.

Im off to work shortly. The car is a 54 plate 190 s line quattro with bex engine. Im not sure if what other info you need? If theres anything else let me know and ill try and provide it.
thanks for the quick response

You most probably need some load resistors in line with those led bulbs.
Canbus is a system that detects if any of the bulbs are blown and throw an error in the dash. You can cheat it by those resistors to add more resistance to the wiring.
This way, canbus will think that the bulb is still ok.

Ah. Is it a simple case of soldering a resistor across each end of the bulb then? Thats ok if a torpedo style but what if a small type like what a side light would be. Any pics so i know more about what id need to do.
what size "ohms" resistors would i need

If you want to keep the existing leds, than resistors would be good to do.

I got the 6watt 20Ohm snipped into the wiring and it solved dash error with fogs. They do flash every 30seconds as canbus is checking if they still there.
Similar with my number plate and reverse ones but they didn't show any error. They flicker from time to time but I'm fine with it.

Only issue is the access to wiring.
