Hi, this is my first Audi and apologies if this subject has already been explained but I am having trouble confirming if my car has the capability of upgrading to heated mirrors. I've popped the near side lens off and can see that it is not a heated one but the two wires are there. From reading other posts I was hoping that it was just a case of retro fitting heated units. Before spending the £70 odd on 2 OEM units I waited until the outside temp had dropped (1 degree) and put a basic 12v circuit tester onto the 2 wires with the heated rear screen activated. Unfortunately there did not appear to be any power reaching the wires.
I would appreciate it if someone could confirm if the wires are connected up and if so how I would go about activating them. Car has loads of extras including fully electric and heated seats so it seems odd that something so basic is missing? It's a 08 3.0tdi tip.
    thanks in advance
    Steve
PS bought my first Audi and first cab on 31.5.12, the day before the start of the wettest summer in recorded history, no regrets so far though

I had the same with my a4 cab I just popped the old mirror off and put the new heated mirrors on and hey presto they worked when I pressed the rear heated window button. They only work below a certain temperature. I'm guessing here but I know that the control modules switch there output off if there is a broken circuit so that might be why you were not getting a voltage reading. Once you connect up the heater element it resets itself and works. That's me guessing though

I love my heated mirrors carn't live without them

Thanks for that, I can't live without them either so looks like I might just have to go for it! The thought of giving the dealers £77 for something that might not work sticks in the throat though. Still can't believe they aren't standard. Fingers crossed, but will probably be offering a brand new set for sale next week :(
