Help Please ASN - Brake light trouble

Every time i attempt DIY i regret it.. I am so annoyed.

Simple Stuff intially:

- Both rear brake lights stopped working (High Level Boot brake light OK)
- Brake light switch faulty when scanned with VAGCOM

New OEM Brake light switch fitted (local mechanic)

Still no brake lights, so I removed the rear drivers side cluster only to find bulb is OK & new one does not work either ?

When fitting the cluster back again realised the screw was no longer there to screw the unit back in ?
It must have dropped down inside the car chassy somewhere and I cannot find it? I will have to buy another from Audi i guess? How annoying Ahhhhh

Any useful tips for my next attempt ?

I checked Fuses #7 ESP & Brake light switch & #14 Brake lights. These were Both OK

Not sure what to try next folks ???

Any guidance would be hugely appreciated?

Cheers Byzan I have heard they are quite tricky to fit. Will probably have to buy another as they can break easily ?

best way to check the switch is to 'bridge' the wires if possable

the new switches are just push in, turn, click, and turn again until the unit is square with the clutch switch if installed, iv fitted 2 now in 2 cars,
