Help needed. Recommendations for a first car for a friend.

Hi all,

Currently own a b7 a4 and absolutely love it. Got a friend who's looking at an a3 but has a budget for around £800.

Been looking at the below:

The first car linked to is advertised as a 1.6 petrol when in fact it's a 1.9 tdi ???.
The second car is a 15 year old car with 140K miles on the clock described as excellent condition ???
Good luck you are in a minefield of unwanted, unloved , unreliable cars. Everything could go wrong when you are buying a car that has been round the planet 4 or 5 times and is even out of the 10 year bodywork warranty.
Had a quick look near you at what is available from private people, sometimes the better looked after 1 owner type cars appear here.
This looks to be a farm, the car looks cheap for a 2004 plate .
Not sure how good these are on fuel.
