HELP! ECON smells of the strainings from the devil's jock strap!

Quite foul!

ECON mode... can make you pass out

AIR CON is working like a charm though touch wood.

Never had this problem in 7 years!

smells like the system needs a good clean out!
How can you fix a car air conditioner that puts out a bad smell for 2-3 minutes when you first turn on the air conditioner

Thanks... here is what I did...

1. Turned up AC/Heat to Max and Re-circ
2. Released 2 x cans of aircon clean by Comma (sold by Halfords)
3. The cans say that they last for 5 minutes but mine went for 10 minutes!
4. Let the air con run an additional 5 minutes after the cans had finished releasing the cleaner
5. Followed instructions on can, opened windows and left for 5 minutes to get rid of the cleaner smell

So far so good... checked the cabin filter and it looks filthy so will replace it before the odour returns.
