    Hi All,

My company car is due for replacement in May, I'm considering buying my own and have about 10k to spare on a second hand Audi and am also buying my first house so if I can spend less it's a good thing. I have currently got an A3 which I really like but I don't want to get the same again (at least for now). My requirements are:

    - Good MPG (I spend about £80 per week on fuel at the moment)
    - Room in the back for a 3 year old
    - Lots of boot space
    - Room inside for my windsurfing stuff (or roof rack)
    - Small enough to park in London easily (A3 size is ok, can go a little bigger)

Any recommendations on what I should be looking out for and what is a reasonable price to pay?

    Cheers - Trev

Parking in London I would want to go as small as possible. However, I sodding hate driving in London so would opt for a big car and just get the train into London. lol

Lol, it's only for 6 months until the other half moves down to Bognor with me so it's temporary. Thankfully she's only in South London near Wimbledon where it's not so busy.

Does it have to be an Audi? You though about something like A Focus they are quite good for MPG and loads of boot space.

I'd prefer to at least go German, but am willing to think outside the box on this one...

Bmw 330d saloon. Brillaint car lots of power although must say interior isn't as well made or as nice as an Audi's. Apart from that you got the usual golf's/leon's and a3's, in which case stay away from the 170 Tdi's as there a nightmare although VW have just recalled many Golf Gt TDi's on a DPF/Injector recall

I would avoid any VAG 2.0TDI for the reason below.

    http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s...7-2-0-tdi-oil-pump-balance-shaft-failure.html

I've done the research, it's more hassle than it's worth!

Go for a B7 Avant 1.9TDI S-Line, then get it remapped, not a rocketship, but it will be adequate, and you get the cheaper taxband too, can't even tell it's a 1.9 once you debadge it.

You can analysis different many brand cars company available on the internet to identify what's in your budget. Once you know what vehicles you can manage that fulfill your needs, you can check out different shops on the internet to see how their costs evaluate.
