Ok so I decided today to change the belt on the s4 as the old one was very old. All changed, all plugged together but now won't run right. It starts but with a bit of objection and idles a little low. But if I put any rev on it stalls or very nearly stalls. Any ideas why? No laptop with me so have a long walk home tonight and well VAGCOM it in the morning.

maybe you fitted the belt wrong ?

Its not a belt that really can be put on wrong. It was the right size, correct belt type and it goes over all the pullys, except the tensioner. Pretty simple. The tensioner was torqued to the 70nm and the restraining bolt to 20nm. Left the car at the workshop, walked home, and will spend the day tomorrow sorting it out. Need to do engine flush, oil change and coolant change at the same time.

This is the first I have heard of torsional value! Will have to do some research now....
