Hi guys,

My car has gone in to an Audi specialist today for a major service, a clean up of the throttle body, and a replacement thermostat.

All is well except for that the specialist is being unable to connect to the car's ECU. This is strange because the car was only with them two weeks ago for new discs and pads when they successfully ran diagnostics to find out why the airbag warning light was illuminated.

Moving forward to today, the passenger airbag has been reconnected and the warning light has gone out. Also I have removed and refitted the radio as part of work to replace the center console fascia and hazard relay. After this, the specialist can no longer connect to the ECU. My first thought is could it be the radio. My first thought is could this be my removal and refitting of the radio? When I took it out I triggered the anti-theft mechanism so even though it is reconnected it is not currently working. Is it conceivable that this is what is stopping the communication with the ECU.

Any thoughts/opinions would be gratefully received :)

Cheers,

Mike

Checked the diagnostics fuse? can't remember what number it is off hand though but should be on the printed diagram on the drivers side panel (where the fuse box is)

Thanks tuffty,

I shall have a look tomorrow when I get the car back. It's staying overnight at the specialist, and so I'm temporarily rolling around in a Seat Ibiza - not a great look for a 6' 5" bloke lol
