Hi guys - in the market for an A3, Have upto 3.5k to spend. Not a lot I know, but there you go /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

With that budget it seems 97/98 cars are on the cards with 100-120k on the clock. So far I've spotted a 1.8SE with 110k and a 1.8T Sport with 120k.

Just wondering which one would be the best buy? The 1.8's a black SE so more toys, the 1.8T is a Cornflower Blue (?) Sport, so nicer wheels and obviously better performance.

Both have FSH - the 1.8 has all Audi, the T has Audi upto 100k then VAG Specialist. Not sure if the T has had the 2nd cambelt change done. Due at 120k?

    Your thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

    You'll wish you'd bought the 'T' if you don't...

  3. Definitely the T, they're a lot more fun.

    Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Personally i'd go with the 1.8 turbo due to the overall performance gains over the normal 1.8.

As for the service history, several owners here regularly use VAG specialists over the dealers so I wouldn't worry too much.

    good luck in your search

    Mike

I think economy is slightly better on the turbo model too.

Welcome to the forum mate, I would definately go for the 1.8T the performance is alot better and the engine is alot more tuneable.

yes, turbo - I went for the 1.8 sport NA model and my only regret is the lack of turbo.
