    Good Morning All,

Hopefully somebody with alot more knowledge in detailing than myself can help me out.

Picked the wife up from work and she failed to tell me before hand that a large portion of the roads near her office had the top layer of road surface removed and amongst the loose stones were tar deposits which splashed the undercarriage of the car and the less obvious part of the side skirts.

As the tar is relatively thick and not at the real sticky stage, more dry, would it be better to use Carpro Tar X??? I really do not want to agitate and let the treatment do most of the work. Is Tar X good for this job or is there another product I should consider??

Quite annoyed as the car is a brand new A3 Sportback S-Line in White.

    Appreciate any help/guidance.

    Steve

Tardis is by far the best product I've found, I bought quite a few before going for this one, the others did nothing, Tardis took the tar away with ease.

If you click the Polished Bliss link above there's a "How to Use" tab that explains all.

You are better off with Tardis. Tar-X is over rated thou will get the job done but for the cost of it per use is a lot higher than of Tardis.

And you can pretty much use tardis on anything so its very versitile.

I put tardis in a spray bottle spray it on the affected area then just wipe off or just spray on then pressure wash it off.

Angelwax Revelation is very good and smells divine. As was said in a previous comment.....white spirit also but in small quantities.

Thanks RobbieWebs, MadMike & Giosabcsl. Looks like a unanimous on Tardis. Brodster, I have made a note on the AngelWax. Thanks.

Ive bought a tester of Tar-X and ordered late yesterday some Tardis. I trust the Tardis only comes in a large quantity? Putting it into a spray bottle makes sense.

I will try the Tar-X to treat one side and see how I get on with the Tardis on the other.

Ive used White Spirits in the house and other places but do not feel comfortable applying to a new car Gen Heinze.

Many thanks for all your replies.

I will put my results up in here if others are interested.

    Thanks again,
    Steve

You can buy 500ml or 1l bottles fo Tardis on eBay, from valleters decanting from a larger drum

Spray on the affected area, leave 5-10 minutes (you'll see the tar spots/splashes running) and wipe or wash off - you may need a second go if the tar is very dry or thick.

Tardis will remove wax / sealant though so you'll have to reapply those afterwards
