I'm wondering if anyone has had the heater in their A4 go out? Last winter I noticed the heat seemed cooler than it should be, but this year it blows cold air. Is this something I can fix on my own or am I going to be at the mercy of the dealer?

Poison,

Sounds like your heater matrix could be faulty. Before taking your car to an Audi dealer check the following.

1. Make sure you have the correct coolent level in the expansion tank. I trust the temp guage is giving correct readings from cold start to warm?

2. Some cars have a bleed screw on the flow/return pipes on the heater martix, not sure if the A4 has these! Check the Haynes manual if you have one.

3. The heater matrix could be clogged up, you will need to replace it or try removing it and flushing it out with a hose pipe connected to mains water pressure.

If you need a replacement try vagparts or the following contact, they deal in 2nd hand parts and are very cheap.
