Hi,

Both my heated wing mirrors are being heated all the time, even when the outside air temperature is in double figures. I was under the impression that the heating for the mirrors comes on near somewhere near freezing point and then times out after a while. Mine are on all the time.

Does anyone have any experience of this and a likely cause - I though that perhaps a solenoid stuck in the closed position may cause this, but have no idea where it might be located or identified.

My wing mirror adjustment button is in the neutral position and the heated rear window works ok.

Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year.

(My car is an A3 1.8 T Sport, on an 'S' plate, 1998).

I had the same fault on my s3, investigated and found out the mirror glass has permanent live at all times and the temperature trigger is a tempreture valve located on the back of the glass its self,so when corrosion sets in etc it sticks....hence on at all times.

I thought there was a fault, with the supply being on when the ignition turned on ...DuH
