Hi Marc welcome to the site, lovely A3 you have there. The picture of the headlights you have posted are single Xenons headlights with halogen high beam and are a straight swap plug and play with coding via VCDS.

Your other option is bi-Xenons which is xenon for low and high beam and they also have DRLs. These are the lights which are fitted to 2006-2008 S3's.
These require more to get them working as your current headlight connector is 10 pin it would need changing to a 14 pin to fit the new headlights. This can either been done with adapters or can be re-wired with a new plug looks more factory fit in my opinion which is why I always do them this way.

Also with the adapters you need to run the two wires attached into the drivers footwell and wire them Into the correct positions on the central electrics but my way uses existing wiring that isn't used anymore when Xenons are fitted and makes the retrofit look more OEM factory fit.

Then coding is needed via vcds if you need any help ect please pm me

Also for bi xenon. Make sure you have a ce module that supports it. That way you can connect your headlights flawlessly

I am just about to do same swap but bi-xenon.

Can anyone tell me if my module is compatible? Not sure what rev it is but I have part number:

Address 09: Cent. Elect. Labels: 8P0-907-279-23-H.lbl
    Part No SW: 8P0 907 279 C HW: 8P0 907 279 C

It does have the options for bixenons on vcds but there seems to be a lot of conflicting messages.

    Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

Do you have ce module that has the H or C? Anyways if you cant see in vcds that you have option to tick on bi xenon then you need to replace your ce module to K

As above, looks like mines a C, which uses H label file. The option is there to tick :)

Slight hijack (and yes, I have searched without success). If the "single" xenons are plug and play (apart from needing coding), does the thumbwheel height adjuster work? If not, there's no chance of not blinding folk when you have rear passengers and/or heavy luggage etc surely?

NB - not asking to have a go at anyone, just honestly curious - if the wheel works I may consider this upgrade now it's become clear that VOSA/MOT aren't enforcing the washer/leveller requirement.

The C rev module does not support bi-xenon, you would need the F to get that working.
the C was used on the 2005 model for single xenon lights.

Marc where abouts are you based?
