hdmi problem

i have a philips dvd with hdmi
this also is conected to a 5.1 through coxal but has a delay between the tv and the surrond if there both on at the same time
any ideas
is it the rate of signal bein past through one quicker than the other
it produces a hall effect

my surround sound amp has a sound delay setting to sync it with the TV. Maybe there is the same setting on yours?

Also i run it with tv the sound off so if there was any delay you cant tell unless is way out with the picture
