I can see a few people having mental breakdowns on this thread haha.
I would say mine will be around 2k after I get my alloys done, sad thing is I have badly touched the surface :(

Why do such a crazy thing and upset yourself - I'm certain the hours of enjoyment thinking, researching, dreaming, talking about and finally fitting and using your monds then admiring with your mates, complete with Neanderthal grunts of approval, was worth more than the cost!!! ;)

Others pay a LOT more in depreciation alone for a new Mondeo and enjoy a lot less than you have!! (NB I have anything against Mondeos).

I wouldnt cry about it if you have done it you can obviously afford it so no harm done in creating the thread mate, plus its a little amusing compared to the maintenance and problem threads just enjoy it if you dont like it click the arrow that takes you back

Yes I've done this. The question is have you involved the labour costs of fitting stuff? Stuff alone mines about £2500!

Most fitted myself but turbo, new intercooler and mechanical parts had labour involved and i have minuses labour its over 7k as headlamps were nearly retail due to ballasts etc and spraying for body panels cost money plus window tints so ive easily made 7K mark shocking really but ive enjoyed it all the way

I'm not even sure I want to think about it.....

I've loved everything I've had done to the car,and ended up with a very fast, practical and reliable car,but I guess I could have bought an R8 V8,but then 2 seats, and it would be slower etc etc.

    So.....not including labour.....

    Suspension £3k+

Gearbox and transmission £2k...with a bit more on the way.

    Brakes £2k

    Engine......:banghead:

    Would I do it again......absolutely.

Ended up spending a fair bit on my conversion but thanks to Ebay Germany I saved just over £2000 over the amount I would have payed at the dealers, guess it pays off to shop around.

Would like to Remap & lower my car in the future but am scared off having warranty issues if any problems arise :ermm:

    DOH

Only had the car three weeks and already..

35% tints at the rear - week 1
    headlight bulbs - week 1
front interior dome light swapped for version with map reading and ambient lights - incl Tupps LEDs - ysterday
rear interior light to be replaced with a B6 version with readign lights and Tupps LEDs - this weekend

also now looking at S line rear diffuser !

and still have the tuning box from my old Golf to fit - next week

Must stop - this is supposedly the commuting/family hack :o.k:

I only paid retail for tyres, so managed to get away with spending around £3,200 all in on the S3 (not including the fuel pump that needed replaced, or any labour for fitting bits). Probably spent the same in fuel in the 18 months I had it, so not too bad considering.

It's about the only thing I can be smug about....mine is a lot cheaper as I'm an old git.

OMG! What kind of insurances are these?
Here in Romania we have two kinds, a mandatory one which covers damages that you do to others and an optional one that covers own car.
The first one, for my car, is around 150£. The optional one varies but for my car a max won't be higher than 1200 - 1300£.

This is kind of OT but basically that quote I gave was the only one I could get some years back, through a broker, for a Sierra Cosworth which was heavily modified.
At that time they were being stolen to order faster than you could believe.

Anyway...just to make you laugh,my daughter is now looking for her first car.....cheapest car to insure is a Ford Ka or Citroen C1,and the price,as named driver on a policy in my name....£2500.

if shes just a named driver, maybe try co-operative insurance, they are usually good for younger named drivers
