Last week I posted an ad on gum tree, selling my BBS-CH wheels with nearly new Goodyear tyres on them. Last Thursday someone texted me saying they would like to come and see them. No problem. I texted him my address and duly had the wheels laid out in my garage for him to see. No show. On waking up the next morning I looked out of my kitchen window and noticed the garage door slightly ajar and on investigating found the garage padlock cut with bolt cutters and said wheels gone. On speaking to my home insurance they said that the items in the garage are covered but not if they are motoring accessories. A cautionary tale.

Sorry to hear that, there are some proper thoughtless/insert expletive out there.

I remember spotting your wheels on Gumtree but was too late (I did send a text but you pinged one back saying they were already sold). I've since managed to pick up a set from Matt Maddison on here (& i've got them well hidden in the house!).

sorry to hear about that. i share your pain.
i hate when people just send texts when trying to by something expensive, especially
    when the number is witheld.
    i respond better to calls
years back i advertised some mint DTM rims for my Golf mk2 GTI on loot.
Rims were still on the car at the time. A guy rang and turned up, made some ridiculously stupid low
offer which i declined, then he left.
That night i got back to my MK2 Golf to find out that the drivers door was ripped open. i was gutted.
they never had time to nick the car or rims though.

I wouldn't say that my self... ...At least you have some type of member ID to trace back to. That's if you don't display your phone number on the listing in the first place.

How about we all advertise some nice expensive wheels, invite them round to take a look - "I'll lay them out in the garage for you"

Then go out to the garage and lay out an elaborate and painful trap.

My brother set such a trap. He was tired of someone breaking into his storage shed, so he got a shotgun shell, removed the pellets, and then fixed it to a block of wood. Made up a firing pin and a spring, set off by a simple trigger. Connected a fine steel wire across the entrance and waited. Several night later there was an almighty BANG. Needless to say the thief had run off, most likely trembling in his boots. He never came back.

It will have been a cheap PAYG phone from Asda or something. Dont know if they can find the source from that.

Each phone will have its own unique serial number - each unique serial number would have been assigned with its own phone number. Maybe they could find out where it was purchased then watch the CCTV of it being bought.......or am i being too CSI? lol

    Hope they catch the Futhermuckers

you dont get the point. if those rims belonged to Prince Harry or Tony Blair, alot of effort would have been put in motion to get the theives..
