Anyone got any numbers or figures to show how good the cooler has done in testing?? I'm looking also at a Eurojet as they also have really good figures on up to 600bhp. I do like the look of this I must admit but can't justify performance just because it looks nice :)

That's disappointing mate, mine was incredibly well packaged. Was the box itself damaged? Have you spoken to Allan?

The thing with IC fins is they're SO thin that even brushing them with a finger can bend them a bit, the good thing is they can very easily be bent back, no worries. Can you post a pic?

There is some figures on the basic stage one cooler:

The stage two cooler is a better design with bigger core and better flowing end tanks so expect temp drops well in excess of the above I'd have thought.

The money is piling up for my mine now. Definetely need one on my car. Being stage2+ with all the bells and whistles, The car is seriously let down by its standard intercooler and I can feel it everytime I drive it. Going to give Allan a phone tomorrow.

Interested to hear anyone who's fitted theirs and any difference felt.
Will this group buy still be available later in the month?

Not a problem mate, glad I could get a good deal going for members.

I fitted mine today along with Doogie from here who very kindly offered to let me use his place so we could do them both and have a spare pair of hands each. Doogie actually started his the night before with his mate and had made good headway already by the time I arrived this morning which actually was kinda fortunate for me as he'd already run into the few snags.

100% a job for two people, one person could not do this on their own, you really need to extra hands to support bits and what not.

Mine went fairly smoothly, headlight plugs were a mare, getting the bolts/holes to line up on the new cooler on the left hand side was fiddly and required a little trimming to the lower radiator mounting bracket. Some of the holes dont look like they will line up but they do if you are methodical and only screw stuff in a bit at a time then move on to another corner.

Make sire you keep all fittings together in groups in bags or in a multi section tray, there's so many. One things that's not included with the kit is two M10 x 100 bolts, they are really useful, you replace one of the chassis leg bolts at each side with one of these first then remove the other 6, as they're so long it allows you to move all the rads out while supporting them and makes it much easier to disconnect stuff.

Getting the old IC out and new one in is tight, be careful not to bend the AC rad pipes.

We were on a tight schedule as i had to get back to Glasgow to pick up my wee boy from Nursery so not many pics im afraid but a couple here to give you an idea of the amount that needs removed.

We took maybe 2 hours to finish the second half of Doogies then mine took 3 hours total, not too bad, if I was doing it again 3 hours should see the job through with two people.

My drive home was rush hour so no chance to give it a blast but this evening I also fitted my Loba HPFP and ive had the car out for a good run tonight, baring in mind I'm only shark stage 1 with intake, cooler and now HPFP but honestly, it's like a different car I'm quite gobsmacked, the increase in mid-range torque is 100% noticible compared to before fitting them both and it pulls earlier, harder, longer and smoother than before fitting, no doubt about it. Feels to me if I had to guess like 30-40 ft/lb more torque over the modest 290 ft/lb I run a few weeks back, cant wait to get them mapped in now.

Unfortunately I cant tell if that's the cooler, the HPFP or both, I suspect the latter, would have been nice to RR it after just fitting the cooler but didnt make sense to throw another £70 at a dyno session just to see, sorry guys.

Big thanks again to Doogie, cracking lad and very decent of him to have me over, oh and his car's an absoloute weapon lol

For those waiting to see if it makes a difference on stage 2+ cars i'll give a little info.

I'm running APR stage 2+ software with a spec list as follows:

Milltek 3" turbo back with sports cat
    CTS turbo intake
    APR HPFP
    APR RFD
    revision DV
    OEM Cam follower
    RS4 Fuel Return Valve
    NGK iridium 8 plugs
Loba clutch and single mass flywheel
    Airtec stage 2 intercooler

From fitting the intercooler yesterday and taking the car out a drive I can personally report that it has made a noticeable difference on how my car drives. Not really a noticeable increase in power but a smoother and quicker delivery of torque through the revs has been achieved. As well as, imo, a smoother feel to the car and a quicker spool up in to boost. Would definetely recommmend this for stage 2+ cars as it has smoothened out any kinks in my map for a better and more efficient delivery of power. And at the end of the day, it isn't all about chasing power figures, its about getting the power the car has made to be delivered at the right time when driving and making the power more usable as a whole.

If you are stage 2+....... Buy this intercooler.

Two to three days maximum. Paid for mine on the friday but they said they would get it sent out on the monday as they were busy preparing for ford fair. Got a text from DPD on Monday saying it would be delivered on Tuesday. Then got a text from DPD on Tuesday saying it would be delivered between 3pm and 4pm and it arrived at 3.30. Very quick

Its open til the 15th i'm sure but if you phone at Allan at AS he will happily wait a little longer than that.

I know this as I phoned him asking if I could purchase towards the end of august as I didn't think i'd have the funds available till then and he was happy enough to let me do that and take advantage of the group buy price.

I sent Alan an email today as I wasn't able to call as I was at work,
He has replied saying he will hold me an intercooler at the group buy price until the end of the month, hopefully it'll be before that but at least it gives me plenty time.

Hi guys I've received my Airtec intercooler but not entirely pleased as some of the fins are damaged. It seems that this is how it came out from the factory as the box was untouched unless someone was jumping on it. Thinking of returning it back and get a replacement. Should I do it or not?

For the money involved I'm not sure I'd be best pleased.
Most of them look minor cosmetic marks but the biggest one looks like something has pressed against it.

    Glad you got sorted mate.
Mine arrived today and there was so much packaging theres no way it was getting damaged.
Yeah pleased to report there's no damage or marks on mine.
I still can't believe how heavy it is! I'm hoping it performs well so that it compensstes for the weight.
A lovely piece of kit and thanks for everyone involved in sorting this out and pushing my buttons to get one.
    Thanks again folks.
Meant to say I've got my 100mm M10 bolts and gonna hopefully fit it next week.

    Glad you all got sorted.

Regarding the bent fins, I'd have just straightened them out myself, it takes seconds with a couple of precision screwdrivers as the fins themselves are ultra thin and flexible. Wouldnt make the slightest bit of difference to performance and given the cooler is sandwiched between the AC rad and coolant rad you're never going to see a little missing powdercoat anyway.

    But that's just me.

Good that you're getting it fitted, it was a bit of a task lol

    I fitted my intercooler today.
What a ball ache. I done it on my own and struggled with the separating front panel from the rads. Not enough arms and hands.
Took me about 4 hours which wasn't bad.
I've not been out in it yet as I need to log my car to see what timing setting I can get away with. The kids were home from school by then.
Very well made and decent fit although some if the bolts took some time to enter.
    Thanks again

Good job doing it yourself, I'd not like to have to do it myself.

Let us know your thoughts after you have had a chance to give it a good whirl, very interested to see your intake temps when under load wiht it fitted and compared to the standard one if you have that info?

To be honest I never logged intake temps before fitting it.
My opinion after.being fitted for 200 miles is it seems to drive the same whether it's 5 degrees or 15 degrees which is good.
Overall performance it lets me run timing 6 instead of 5 on my Revo software and.higher up the revs seems better, motorway driving seems better the faster you go.
Only slight downside I can see is you gain some very slight turbo lag.very low down. Its like you lose some low end torque.
    I'm pretty picky that.way though.
Very good.product but not sure it's required for stage 2+

just fitted mine at the Autospecialists headquaters, great people so is their service. My first impression I'd say oposite to Marshy, think the turbo picks up bit faster and the car feels sharper. Nice mod before stage 2 dsg map and tte420 :).
