Thought I'd get myself a low profile jack and jacking puck to lift my A3, which came through the post today. The lifting range is 80 to 365mm so should be ideal. Jack was from a dealer on Amazon and the puck was from Ebay, which is for a A3/S3 8V(apparently lol)

A question though, is there any movement/slippage between the jack and the bottom of the puck while lifting ?

I bought one of those pucks for use on the A4. I didn't realise it was a hockey puck with a slot routered into it until I had bought it.
It lasted about a year before it split in two, the slot on mine was quite deep though, yours doesn't look so bad. They do work quite well.
You can get that Jack off Ebay cheaper just unbranded in a different color scheme.

If you have a router make your own lifting pads.

I hope you have axle stands to support the car, never get under a car when it's supported just by a jack.

You may not even need the puck. I purchased a similar item from Ebay, and it worked well. However I jacked my car up recently and although I had a puck I preferred jacking it up with just the jack. But the cup size was small. Take a look here for what I used and measurements of the cup size on the trolley jack: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/ramps-trolley-jack-suggestions.251389/

As others have mentioned you should have axle stands as well or at the very least a back up ( say the Audi jack in the boot) just in case the trolley jack fails.

Enjoy.

Yeah I have stands. As I have asked, is there any movement of the puck while lifting ?

No movement in the puck no. Mine stayed in the correct place when I used it. It did however deform / compress slightly under the initial weight, I suspect because my cup size on the trolley jack was smaller than those used on the racing 1.25t jacks that others use and it sits proud of the cup edges rather than having a flat base to rest on ( i.e. flat base cup, rather than one which has edges/ ridges in ). Try it and see.
