Gordie's S3 Thread

So out went the crappy annoying TA technix coilovers which have leaked out oil, and physically bent...and in went the KW V3's with silver project camber tops. Such a change in a ride quality, very please with them...nice firm ride. Still have to learn how the damper/rebound works and what effects they have on the car though. Can't wait to hit up the track!

Not much has been happening here since the coil overs went it.

Took the rear seats out for weight reduction, was surprised how heavy they are!

-Silver project camber tops are in. Pretty happy with them, no noise/knocks.
-Painted stock wheels in satin black.

Next up on the list
- Slotted/drilled discs
- EBC red stuff pads
- Braided lines
- Fluids
- 235/45/17 Kuhmo ku36 semi slicks
- 25mm spacers

Hitting up my first track day with it on the 29th September!

I'd stay away from the drilled discs fella...there prone to crack with the extreme temperature changes they have to cope with.
Just stick with slotted ones and if you can stump up the extra dosh go for DS2500 pads :)

Have you had all the alignment sorted? Mad a massive difference on mine getting all the camber and castor sorted. That and changing all the bushes replaced/upgraded.

Nah not yet, I'll sort it out before I hit the track.

Time for a update!

Fitted slotted and drilled discs rotas, EBC red stuff pads, braided lines all around and ATE racing blue dot4 fluid.
Also, got around getting some OZ saturn wheels for $250 locally, then got around getting some Kumho KU36 semi slick for it, just in time for my first track day!

Had a few issues blew open the silicone turbo outlet pipe, which is a worry...I thought they good against heat? Lucky a friend of mine drove his s3 on the day, and used the his OEM so I could keep going throughout the day.

Popped a bottom intercooler hose off as well during a session, easy fix!

At the end of the day I noticed a lot of oil ******* out of the catch can, is this normal? I lost quite abit of oil due to this. High oil pressure in the head?

Block is off to get bored out and decked. crank and the bottom end are off to get balanced and linished.

Had to swap over the oil gear from my old 1.8t crank to the FSI to prior to this.

More parts

- Integrated engineering oversize gasket kit

- Mocal oil cooler kit

- More IE goodies

Should get the bottom end back next week from machine shop, getting the crank gear dowelled too which has delayed the balancing by a few days.

Oil pump rebuilt and also re-enforced!

The sump had issues clearing the ARP studs, so it needed a little grinding

A little messy, not quite were I'd like the engine bay...but will do for now. I've run out of patients

Currently on 6psi, N75 disconnected, running on wastegate pressure. AFR readings around 12.4 on Boost. Hit 500km, another 500 to go before we begin tuning
